Community activities have always been an integral part of Dennise's life. Growing up she was involved with Girl Scouts, 4-H and the Red Cross and has been a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of American Revolution) for twenty-five years. During college she was active in her sorority, served as a Girl Scout brownie troop leader and adopted a senior citizen at a local nursing home for weekly visits throughout the year. While living in Washington, D.C., Dennise served as a tutor and mentor for children living in homeless shelters; worked closely with The Arthritis Foundation; and served on the fundraising and silent auction committee of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Washington.  She served several terms as President of the Capitol Hill Alumnae Association of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was an active member of The Junior League of Washington and The Junior League of Los Angeles. During law school, Dennise worked  at the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid's domestic violence clinic and volunteered with HabiJax and the Florida-Georgia Blood bank. As an attorney, she has put in countless volunteer hours with Habitat for Humanity's Coastal Fairfield County in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Phoenix, Arizona's Volunteer Lawyers Program and Maricopa County's (Arizona) Family Law Assistance Program.

Dennise serves on the Executive Board of Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  She served as Beta Nu's Standards and Ethics Advisor for several years and is currently serving as the Beta Nu Advisor for Social Enrichment.

Dennise is a charter member and past President of the Oconee County Civitan club which is dedicated to building good citizenship and serving members of the community with developmental disabilities.  She also serves on the Community Service Board of Advantage Behavioral Health systems which serves members of Athens and the surrounding counties affected by developmental disabilities, mental health or substance abuse.
